It has been about a year since I last blogged...the reason is because I forgot my password. I finally was able to change it, so here I am.

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY

You have seen Escape to Witch Mountain. Over the break, if you have the opportunity, go to the movies to see Race to Witch Mountain (with parental permission, of course) and create a Venn-Diagram comparing/contrasting the two films. This is due the Friday after Spring Break. Have fun.

The 6th Grade Reading Tournament

I am sooooooooooooo proud of our Dolphin students who participated in the 6th Grade Reading Tournament on March 24. Students began preparing for the competition way back in September. We had some tough questions but we were even tougher. We had a great time--celebrating the books we read and working together as a team. You gave 110 percent and I am overjoyed. It was great seeing so many students answering questions. I was thrilled that we had the largest team representation. You are awesome.

Back in September, when I encouraged you to join the competion, I told you about my team's "pattern". Was the pattern repeated or broken tonight? You tell me. I want to hear from you.

"The Pattern":
2000-2001: (2nd Place)
2001-2002: (1st Place)
2002-2003: (2nd Place)
2003-2004: (1st Place)
2004-2005: (2nd Place)
2005-2006: (1st Place)
2006-2007: (2nd Place)
2007-2008: (1st Place)
2008-2009: (?)

Regardless of the pattern, you are winners for reading. It doesn't really matter what place we were. My hope for you is that you will love reading...for the rest of your life.

F.M.S. Idol

Are you a fan of American Idol? Tryouts for this season's F.M.S. Idol were held in mid-March. Judges selected this season's "Top 13". We have outstanding talent from grades 6, 7, and 8. F.M.S. Idol: Season 4 will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Fletcher High School. Tickets will be sold for $5.00 per seat. Please come out to support your favorite idol. This is a show you don't want to miss!!!

My Other Cat, Sid

Everyone knows about Theo, but my other cat, Sid (Theo's brother) got his leg caught in something 2 weeks after Theo got hurt. Sid had to have 2 surgeries. Sid and Theo definitely look like twins...they're the same color, have the same leg shaved, and both have scars.
